Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
As a health and wellbeing screening technician you will deliver a high quality screening service of appropriate medical examinations for employees and potential employees across NYP, NYFRS and the OPFCC. As part of the screening program for new employees you will interpret all test results to establish any further actions or recommendations as required as well as advise people Services re fitness for employment accordingly.
You will contribute to the development, promotion and review of all polices and initiatives for managing health at work including effective education and prevention strategies across NYP and NYFRS and OPFCC in-line with the key performance indicators ensuring a healthy workforce to bring value to frontline services as well as advise, and deliver an inoculation programme.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver a high quality, timely inoculation programme for relevant staff.
To assess pre-employment questionnaires for specific roles and advise, People Services colleagues and managers, re fitness for employment/fitness test.
To identify any need to obtain further information from GPs/Consultants to assist in the establishments for suitability/fitness for employment.
To undertake routine health surveillance of role-specific staff groups
To undertake Display Screen Equipment Assessments when required.
To provide health promotion at every opportunity and ensure current literature is available.
To liaise with the Health and Wellbeing Nursing team on physical health matters
To liaise with the Health and Wellbeing Counselling team on all Psychological issues.
To deliver in-service health assessments, as required
To ensure knowledge of and compliance with the Equality Act
To contribute and assist the Lead Wellbeing Nurse on developing the medical and screen service to ensure value is added to the NYP and NYFRS and OPFCC.
To offer support and advice for staff and their managers in identified roles where routine screening is required.
Actively pursue research or project work on specific initiatives, as directed.
Promotion and enhancement of the concept of staff health and wellbeing, helping to raise awareness of the role and its function to employees in all organisations.
Complete statistical information of activities, to identify any organisational issues or trends.
Requirements
To succeed in this role it is essential that you will have extensive experience of working in health care and training in health screening and promotion activities would be an advantage.
You will have the ability to organise your time effectively and to cope with the pressures of a demanding role as well as being able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with various working parties to provide a high quality medical screening service.
Knowledge and an understanding of health and wellbeing in the work place and the drive to keep abreast of current initiatives and best practice is an important quality to be a success in this role.
To carry out this role it you will need to have training in medical screening, venepuncture, audio and spiro health surveillance as well as delivering immunisations. If you do not have these currently you will be required to attend the training course to achieve these skills. This will be supported by NYP.

Experience
* Audiology
* HAVs Level 1 and 2
* Experience in occupational health or similar settings
* An understanding of neurodiverse conditions
* Full UK Driving licence
