About the Role
Cover People are recruiting an English Teacher to join a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Salford from September 2026 until Easter 2027. This role offers an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced educators to teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and GCSE. The school places high expectations on its students, fosters positive relationships, and provides a broad and engaging curriculum. Staff benefit from a collaborative culture, strong leadership and clear behaviour systems that support teaching and learning. Early Career Teachers will receive excellent support from experienced colleagues within the English department, while experienced teachers will contribute to a forward‑thinking team committed to raising attainment and promoting a love of reading and literature. M1‑M6 teachers will be paid to scale from day one.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality English teaching in line with the national curriculum
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and GCSE English Language and Literature
* Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively
* Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment
* Differentiated lessons to support students of varying abilities and needs
* Support the academic and personal development of all learners
* Contribute positively to department planning and wider school initiatives
Requirements
* QTS or equivalent UK teaching qualification
* Experience teaching KS3 & GCSE English
* Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
* A passion for English and raising student attainment
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Right to work in the UK
