Role Overview
It is an exciting time to join mental health services in Salford as we transform both Adult Social Care and our integrated Community Mental Health Services. The mental health social work function is delivered within Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust’s Community Mental Health Teams, with a commitment to multi‑disciplinary working with other professionals.
The postholder will contribute to this transformation by refocusing the Mental Health Social Worker role on statutory social care functions, primarily Adult Safeguarding and Care Act assessment functions for incoming referrals to community mental health services.
Responsibilities
* Screen adult safeguarding referrals and act as Enquiry Officer for referrals meeting the s.42 threshold for further enquiry.
* Provide Care Act s.2 and s.4 statutory functions, and conduct proportionate Care Act assessments for new referrals to Salford’s community mental health services.
* Work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday, primarily based at GMMH’s Older Adults Community Mental Health Team at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton, M27 5WW, with occasional work at other community mental health teams across Salford.
* Contribute to the AMHP rota and support Approved Mental Health Professionals and Best Interests Assessors as part of the role.
* Collaborate with other social workers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
Qualifications
* Professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Interest in mental health and prior experience supporting people with mental health problems.
* Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification desirable but not mandatory.
