Job Description:
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a world-leading manufacturer of capital equipment based in West Yorkshire. The role offers a salary of up to £40K (depending on experience), flexitime, early finish on Fridays, and a positive work culture. The successful candidate will contribute to designing new products, ensuring compliance with standards, supporting existing machinery, and collaborating with external vendors.
Responsibilities:
* Design of new products using 3D modeling software
* Ensure product compliance with ISO and safety standards
* Meet design brief requirements and target manufacturing costs
* Support and improve existing machinery
* Customize standard machines for customer requirements
* Provide technical support across departments
* Assist in writing machine manuals
* Create engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of materials
* Manage projects from concept to completion
* Develop product documentation and liaise with vendors
* Monitor and report on project plans and costs
* Research and develop innovative ideas
Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, Vault, AutoCAD Mechanical 2D, and Microsoft Office
* Minimum BTEC HNC in Mechanical Engineering
* Understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
* Knowledge of drive elements, bearings, belts, and linear products
* Understanding of sealing elements like O-rings and shaft seals
* Strong sheet metal design skills
* Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
