Department Overview

The Analysis, Insights & Performance Department drives data‑driven decisions, monitors performance and promotes continuous improvement. The team supports university mission by enhancing student outcomes and enabling strategic initiatives.


Role Overview

The Data Analyst role sits within the Operational Research Team and will contribute to timely, accurate and insightful analysis of internal and external data sources. The analyst will develop and implement reporting solutions for planning and reporting challenges relating to student data, enhancing reporting to internal and external audiences.


Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain reporting solutions for internal and external planning and reporting challenges.
* Enhance reporting on student data aligned with operational research requirements.
* Provide accurate and insightful analysis to support strategic and business decision‑making.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights.


Essential Skills & Experience

* Proven analytical and problem‑solving capability.
* Experience with large, multi‑source datasets.
* Strong knowledge of data modelling, visualisation and data governance.
* Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., PowerBi or Tableau) and SQL.
* Experience in business intelligence practice and insight generation for senior management.


Desirable Skills & Experience

* Qualifications in Statistics, Mathematics, Computing or related disciplines.
* Experience working in higher education, further education or a regulatory environment.
* Knowledge of statutory data returns relevant to the role.
* Experience with PowerApps and PowerBI.

Locations

This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement with occasional travel (~once a month) to one of the following UK sites: Coventry head office, Birmingham campus, Leeds campus, Nottingham campus, Manchester campus, London area (Stratford, Holborn & Ealing). The university offers a non‑contractual working model with the option to add an Arden work location to employment contracts.


Salary & Employment

£40,000 – £45,000 per annum. Permanent position, 37 hours per week, reporting to the Analytical Strategist within the Analysis, Insights & Performance Department.
