OCU Group continues through 2024 with itssignificant growth. As part of this we now have a new opportunityfor an experienced SHE Manager to join us in Borehamwood.
The purpose of the role is to assist in themanagement in the health safety and environmental matters withinOCU Services and the wider OCU Group through the provision ofprofessional advice and solutions ensuring compliance withlegislation and best practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To advise and assist in theplanning and promotion of health safety and environmental programsand establishing a suitable mechanism in which to implement.
To manage the OCU Services SHE team for yourarea of responsibility ensuring acceptable performance standards.
To interpret and advise on the implementation ofcompanys policies procedures and safe systems of work.
Ensure that the requirements under the companysintegrated management system are followed accordingly and to ensurethat the contracts for which you are responsible are compliant.
Discharge specific duties for matters regardinghealth safety welfare and environment as defined in the companypolicy and in any procedures efficiently and effectively.
Monitor the health safety and environmentperformance on the contracts under your control and take such stepsas are necessary to improve the performance.
Carryout out regular site depot and CDM audits.This may require working out of hours from time to time includingoccasional weekend/and or night work.
Monitorsites for compliance to ensure the relevant required documentationis in place.
Ensure site notice boards arecurrent and are erected in the appropriateplace.
Attend clients contract meetings as andwhen required prepare and deliver presentation accordingly.
Undertake subcontractor onboardingevaluations.
Preparation of prequalificationquestionnaires (PQQs) and tender documentation.
Compile and submit monthly KPIs within therequired timescales.
Investigate the root causesof accidents incident and near miss occurrences and thecircumstances leading up to the occurrence.
Propose and implement preventative measurescompile required report(s) and forwarding them to Senior SHEQManagement in a timely manner.
Ensure all levelsof staff under your influence receive adequate and appropriatetraining in health safety quality and environmental matters andassist line managers to identify traininggaps.
Facilitate employee rep meetings and recordminutes of the meeting.
Praise positiveperformance manage instances of non conformance escalate whererequired.
Ensure so far as you are able thateffective arrangements exist to protect the health and safety ofthe work force and ensure that all relevant operational &emergency procedures codes of practice instructions &legislation are implemented and observed.
Shallbe accountable to the SHE Head of Major Projects in respect ofhealth safety and environmental matters.
Responsible for exercising a general duty ofcare for the health safety environmental and welfare of employeesunder your control instituting effective arrangements for theefficient implementation of company health and safety strategiesoperational procedures and safe systems of work.
Shall ensure strictadherence to the reporting and recording procedures for accidentsand dangerous occurrences as required under RIDDOR as directed bythe SHE Lead.
Shall be responsible for providingspecialist advice on the companys safety policy and procedures andcompliance with statutory obligations throughout the company.
Shall monitor arrangements to ensure that healthand safety standards applied by contractors are satisfactory and inaccordance with contractual arrangements company specificationspolicy and procedures.
Shall ensure that siteemployees work in accordance with the companys health and safetyrequirements policys and procedures along with those of itsclients.
Shall recommend disciplinary procedureswhere any member of site supervisory staff fails to discharge theirsafety responsibilities satisfactorily.
Shalltake appropriate action when notified of disregard of safety onsite.
Shall ensure the provision of a safe andhealthy working environment for persons working in or visiting anycompany operation site and/or premises.
Shallmonitor provision and effectiveness of adequate and existingwelfare facilities.
Promote the reporting ofnear misses throughout the company.
You arerequired to work at any site on which the Company operates asauthorised and as determined by the needs of the business. You willnot be required to work outside the United Kingdom.
Experience and Qualifications:
NCRQ level 6/NVQ level 6/NEBOSHdiploma
Experience working in the utilitiessector (Power Sector preferred)
Experienceworking within live substations.
Experienceworking with management systems and the NERS Accreditation(preferred)
Experience working with/for SSEN.
EUSR or CSCS in general health and safety
Proficient in Accident/Incident investigationincluding robust RCA.
Proficient in compilingReports.
