This role will require someone who is based in the North and able to travel between Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham on a regular basis.

The Project: National grid appointed Mace to its Design & Project services framework. The appointment to the ‘Project Services’ lot will see Mace provide consultancy services to support the delivery of National Grid’s projects and programmes. The partnership will support National Grid in achieving its ambitions across both its regulated and non-regulated businesses within the UK.

The appointment builds on the relationship the two companies have developed since 2010. During this time, Mace has supported some of National Grid’s most significant projects and programmes, complementing the electricity and gas company’s expertise through several appointments covering the full range of project services, including project and programme management, strategic advisory, PMO services and other associated consultancy support.

Mace has built on its track record of integrating seamlessly with national grid and its supply chain as an agile delivery partner.

The appointment furthers Mace’s ambitions to create positive change by pursuing a sustainable world, accelerating the built environment’s response to the climate emergency. This aligns with national grid’s vision to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future as the UK pushes towards net zero by 2050.

This role will require someone who is based in the North and able to travel between Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham on a regular basis. Developing strategies, standards and management plans and leading delivery of the information management (IM) discipline for client projects/programmes, to ensure efficient information management and successful project/programmes. Ownership of the IM project and project outcomes, key stakeholder relationships, and both direct, and indirect, line management. Understand, develop and implement processes described within ISO19650 including how the information is produced and assured for digital delivery. May take overall Lead for IM on a project/programme, or working for an Associate Director level IM Lead, depending on the scale or complexity of the project/programme.

You’ll be responsible for:

5. Defining and delivering IM strategies, standards (Inc ISO19650) and processes for client-facing projects and programmes.
6. Establishing and manages the project/programme IM function following the strategy, standards and processes set.
7. Training and coaches project/programme colleagues in IM practices and processes and drives awareness and continuous improvement.
8. Managing the assurance and quality control of documents and artefacts submitted and stored.
9. Managing and provides leadership to a team of direct and indirect reports, ensuring the principles, structures, tools/capabilities and responsibilities are in place to deliver area plans and deliver excellence.
10. Providing comprehensive technical and functional expertise, contributing to global digital centre of excellence including knowledge, processes, case studies.
11. Delivering to bids in terms of IM strategies and solutions.
12. Coordinating the set-up, implementation and development of the common data environment (CDE).
13. Developing and implementing processes as outlined within ISO19650, including defining how the information is produced and assured for digital delivery.
14. May take overall lead for IM on a project/programme, or supports associate director (IM Lead), depending on scale/complexity of the project/programme.
15. Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You’ll need to have:

16. Information management leadership experience across a number of projects/programmes. Information architecture naming, numbering, filing, ISO19650.
17. Expert of Power BI, Revit and Solibri model Assurance.
18. Big project and programme experience leading in IM and document control.
19. Setting up of the document control and IM function. Standards setting. ISO 19650 series, UK BIM Framework, CDE Management.
20. Strong written and oral communication,
21. Effective negotiator. Stakeholder management at all levels.
22. Ability to focus on what is essential rather than what is optimal for expedient delivery.
23. Building effective and high performing teams.
24. Effective delegation and task assignment.
25. Organised and ability to organise others, seek clarity, set and manage boundaries.

You’ll also have:

26. Technical qualifications and certifications such as APM IM, Assoc of information managers.
27. Subject matter expert in key IM software including Aconex, Viewpoint, Business Collaborator, SharePoint, etc.
28. Construction, property, and real estate industry.
29. Security, cyber security, data protection awareness.
30. Experience of working in an international setting either remotely from or outside the UK.
