Course Details
On this course you will study a range of units including:
* Roles and responsibilities of the Early years Practitioner
* Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years
* Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in Early Years Settings
* Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early Years Settings
* Understand how to support children's development
* Support care routines for babies and young children
* Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes
* Promote play in an Early Years Setting
* Support well-being of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles
* Support babies and young children to be physically active
* Support the needs of babies and young children with Special Educational Needs and Disability
* Promote positive behaviour in Early Years Settings
* Partnership working in the early years
* Support the needs of children in preparing for school
* You are required to complete 250 hours work placement in an OFSTED registered provider where you will have 3 observations. (You will be in college 3 days a week and in work placement 2 days a week whilst completing this qualification. CWA has a dedicated team of work placement co-ordinators to support you with this).
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is assessed by a range of methods, which may include projects, booklets, posters, assignments, case studies and coursework.
Learners must also complete a work placement as laid down in the course specification criteria.
Each unit will be graded Pass/Fail.
Entry requirements
You will need:
* 4 or more GCSEs at grade 3 or above, which must include both English Language and maths.
Ideally students will have at least one out of English and maths at Grade 4 or above.
* An enhanced DBS check (which will be applied for in your first term at college).
Or (for internal applicants only):
* A relevant Level 1 qualification, such as the Level 1 Diploma Introduction to Health, Social Care, Children's and Young People's Settings and satisfactory progress in your English Language and maths last year
* An enhanced DBS check (which will be applied for in your first term at college).
