Role purpose Are you a seasoned Engineering Leader with a strong Mechanical and Electrical design background in the water and wastewater sector? Due to continued success building on our existing framework agreements and a confident growth plan in AMP 8 and AMP 9, we’re seeking a driven, confident, innovative professional to lead our design teams on our Wessex Water Major Works framework agreement journey. In this role, you’ll lead, expand and develop a diverse team of design engineers, whilst interfacing and liaising with our external design partners, suppliers, and our valued client, to ensure all project design deliverables are planned and delivered as required, on time and under budget. Your expertise will shape innovative and sustainable engineering solutions, mentor junior staff, develop our existing capability and influence key project decisions, all while collaborating with a supportive, forward-thinking team of 40 engineers. The Role To be accountable for the design of a programme of non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects Lead, develop, and grow our design and engineering teams for this framework agreement. Oversee project delivery from outline scope, detailed design and fabrication level design phases, whilst offering construction and installation support. Support the development of detailed specifications for survey requirements, equipment, systems and interfaces between disciplines, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards. Ensure all design deliverables are assigned, planned, and delivered as required by the need of the business and contract. Innovate, challenge, and consider continuous improvement across projects and designs Support the addressing of challenges encountered across our teams, bringing your unique experience to assist in defining solutions. Liaison with other discipline leads, project managers and commercial teams. Attending site, both during and after projects to offer your knowledge and experience, and to receive feedback from our valued teams and clients. Develop and build strong customer and supply chain relationships. This role is available in our Bath (Midsomer Norton Head Office). Hybrid working could be considered based on location, however, working from our office for a minimum of 3 days per week. At Bridges we are more than Engineers. Requirements 2 years of experience working in a senior electrical, mechanical, system or process design role, or as a lead engineer. 2 years of experience working in specific water industry-based design teams. Relevant engineering qualification such as a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline, HNC, or HND. Experience in: Mechanical and Electrical system design Design project coordination, leading and supporting teams Water and Waste Water infrastructure, processes and operations.
