The Registered Practical Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.
As a Registered Practical Nurse, your typical day will impact in the following ways:
1. Preparing and administering prescribed, routine medications and treatments as directed by the Physician and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.
2. Documenting and following up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a client, family, or team members and informing/seeking assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate.
3. Promoting the client’s self-care and self-sufficiency, emphasizing adaptation and abilities, promoting wellness, and providing preventative health education, thus treating the whole person.
4. Completing all required assessments, RAPS, and care plans within the specified timeframes.
5. Supporting unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training, and education.
6. Performing other duties as assigned.
Must haves:
1. Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
2. Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
3. All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
4. As part of legislative requirements, all successful candidates must meet the provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.
Bonus points for:
1. Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an asset.
