What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our systems. Your responsibilities will include:
* Technical Oversight: Provide leadership and technical ownership of CCS design, guiding design decisions and supporting the Engineering Manager in delivering in-service programmes.
* Project Management: Control project scope, manage design changes, and engage with stakeholders and suppliers to identify risks early.
* Design Reviews: Lead programme-level design reviews, coordinate stakeholders, manage design baselines, and produce Certificates of Design while ensuring design governance.
* System Integration: Review and influence technical requirements and architectural design to ensure seamless integration across sub-systems and specialist domains.
* Expertise: Provide specialist knowledge in the integration, validation, and verification of systems.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* Extensive experience in network or software engineering, ideally with a background in operations.
* Proven ability to lead technical matters and provide expert guidance.
* Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
* Specialist expertise in Combat Systems, particularly related to submarines, is advantageous.
* Familiarity with DOORS and hands-on experience using it.
* Demonstrated experience in change management processes.
Desirable:
* Systems Engineering (INCOSE) qualifications.

The Team:
Join the In-Service Programme team working on the V Class, where you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment. Collaborate with a core team of 6-12 and engage with a broader network of around 30 stakeholders. This role demands strong technical leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive solutions forward. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates across all Submarines roles.
