Residential Deputy Manager Salary: £39,890 8.5% all-inclusive allowance Location: Doncaster Client: City of Doncaster Council Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 148 hours over a 4-week rota (includes 2 weekends on, 2 weekends off; shifts of 7am–3pm, 2pm–10pm, sleep-in shifts 2pm–11pm; 8am–4pm in manager’s absence) About the Role The Deputy Manager supports the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the residential home. In their absence, the Deputy assumes full responsibility for the home and the care of children, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. Key Responsibilities Assist in managing the budget and resources for efficient home operations Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, professionals, and the community Oversee assessment and admission processes for children and young people Implement and monitor safeguarding practices Organise staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage Lead development of individualised care plans promoting development and wellbeing Monitor care quality through audits and improvement strategies Supervise, mentor, and train staff, including conducting appraisals Ensure regulatory compliance under Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards Act as building manager, ensuring compliance with Fire, Environmental, and Health & Safety regulations Recruit and induct new staff Commit to ongoing professional development for self and team Undertake required training, including physical restraint techniques Participate in sleep-in rota as needed Experience & Knowledge Supervisory or management experience in residential childcare settings Experience working with children with challenging emotional behaviour Knowledge of Ofsted Regulations and quality standards Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Ability to work flexibly and respond to crises Qualifications Level 3 QCF Children & Young People (desirable) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Care (desirable) Other Requirements Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in sleep-in shifts Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare Ability to undertake physical intervention training At Service Care Solutions we also offer a £250 bonus for referrals!
