Fund Governance Manager needed in Trowbridge, £50,788 to £52,805 per annum - Reference:1528070
The purpose of the Fund is to meet all future pension liabilities of its scheme members, while seeking to minimize contributions paid into the Fund by employer bodies. The level of employer contributions is assessed every three years through an actuarial valuation.
The Wiltshire Pension Fund administers pensions for over 170 employer organizations, including local authorities, FE colleges, academies, charities, and third-party service providers. The Pension Team oversees the governance and administration of the Fund, which currently has liabilities and assets valued at approximately £3bn.
Accurate administration is essential to ensure compliance with complex regulatory requirements and to avoid fines from the Pension Regulator, thereby protecting the Fund's reputation.
The management of the Fund’s assets and liabilities affects its solvency and influences contribution levels, which are significant costs for employer organizations (around £40m annually for Wiltshire alone). This has a direct impact on their financial viability.
The Fund ensures all pension benefits are paid correctly, promptly, and in accordance with scheme regulations. It manages relationships with the 170 scheme employers, overseeing their admission and cessation.
The Fund monitors and reviews its investment strategy, proposing improvements to ensure assets and costs are reported accurately and legally. Investment management services are procured through the Brunel Pension Partnership, which the Fund participates in alongside nine other LGPS Funds.
