<div><h3>Senior Fellow in General Surgery</h3><p>We are pleased to offer a post to join our General Surgery unit in University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust as a senior clinical fellow. This role is suited to candidates nearing or who have completed their general surgery training (or equivalent) and are looking to further their experience in complex upper GI or lower GI surgery.</p><p>The General Surgery unit at Royal Sussex County Hospital provides tertiary level care to 1.6 million people across Sussex, parts of Surrey and West Kent.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Work within the multidisciplinary general surgery team under consultant surgeons.</li><li>Participate in elective surgeries across both upper GI and lower GI specialities, excluding specialist hepatobiliary work.</li><li>Receive consultant‑led operative training in theatre, including access to endoscopy and robotic procedures.</li><li>Attend outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings.</li><li>Contribute to research, undergraduate education, and management/leadership activities.</li><li>Provide coverage on the 1:10 general on‑call rota for the acute emergency general surgery service and major trauma centre.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Near completion of or completion of general surgery training (or equivalent).</li><li>Demonstrated interest and ability in complex upper GI or lower GI surgery.</li><li>Strong teamwork and communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment.</li></ul></div>
