Clinical Coordinator Responsible to: Head of Therapeutic Services Location: Office based with remote working covering Northern Ireland Hours: 21 hours per week Contract: Permanent Salary: £30,817 £33,632 (Pro rata) Background Nexus has over 40 years experience supporting individuals impacted by sexual abuse and abusive relationships across Northern Ireland. We support and empower people to recover and thrive through the provision of specialist counselling services, group recovery programmes and peer support initiatives. Since April 2019, Nexus has managed the 24-Hour Domestic and Sexual Abuse (DSA) Helpline, funded by the Department of Health, Department of Justice and the Department for Communities. We challenge attitudes, beliefs and behaviours to enhance societys understanding of sexual abuse and abusive relationships through psycho-education workshops, accredited training programmes and the development of self-help resources. We use lived experience, professional expertise and research to inform policy development, best practice and service commissioning. Our people are vital to the success of the organisation. Job Description and Personal Specification Role Purpose The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the effective coordination and oversight of Nexus trauma-informed counselling services. The postholder will support the delivery of high-quality therapeutic provision for individuals affected by sexual trauma, ensuring services operate in line with professional, ethical and organisational standards. Working closely with the Head of Therapeutic Services and the Therapeutic Support Services Team, the Clinical Coordinator will coordinate referrals, support the allocation of counselling services and monitor service delivery. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a specialist trauma-informed service supporting survivors of sexual abuse and abusive relationships. Key Responsibilities Clinical Coordination and Team Support Coordinate the day-to-day operation of counselling services to ensure the effective delivery of trauma-informed therapeutic support. Support counsellors and therapeutic staff by providing guidance on service processes, procedures and best practice. Promote a culture of reflective practice, collaboration and continuous professional development within the counselling team. Support the Head of Therapeutic Services in maintaining professional and ethical standards across the service. Service Delivery and Referral Management Oversee the management of counselling referrals, ensuring timely triage, allocation and follow-up in line with service procedures. Coordinate the allocation of clients to appropriate counsellors, taking account of therapeutic needs, location and service capacity. Monitor waiting lists and demand levels to support effective service planning and accessibility. Work closely with the Therapeutic Support Services Team to ensure smooth coordination of administrative and operational processes relating to counselling services. Client and Stakeholder Engagement Promote a client-centred approach throughout the therapeutic journey, from referral through to completion of counselling. Ensure communication with clients, referrers and partner organisations reflects trauma-informed principles and maintains confidentiality, respect and sensitivity. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies and stakeholders involved in client referrals and support. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Ensure accurate and timely recording of client information and service data in line with GDPR and organisational policies. Support the monitoring and evaluation of counselling services, including reviewing service outcomes and client feedback. Assist in the preparation of reports for internal management, funders and governance bodies. Use service data to identify trends, inform service improvements and support effective planning. Collaboration and Service Development Work collaboratively with colleagues across Nexus to support integrated service delivery. Contribute to the development and improvement of service systems, procedures and operational processes. Support the implementation of service developments, pilots or new initiatives where required. Further Duties Maintain professional practice standards in line with Nexus principles and core standards. Maintain accurate professional records and appropriate documentation relating to service delivery. Provide monitoring information and evaluation reports where required. Keep clear records of activities and expenses. Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required by the Line Manager. Contribute to the development of best practice and continuous service improvement. Essential Criteria Recognised counselling qualification (Diploma level or above) or equivalent professional training in counselling or psychotherapy. Experience supporting individuals affected by trauma, abuse or sexual violence. Experience coordinating services, projects or programmes, including monitoring and reporting. Experience managing financial or other resources within budgetary expectations. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Understanding of trauma-informed practice. Hold a full current driving licence valid for use in the UK and Ireland and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of a suitable applicant who has a disability which prohibits them from driving but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements to meet the requirements of the post in full. Desirable Criteria Experience supporting or coordinating a team of staff or volunteers. Experience working in the voluntary or community sector. Experience working with funding bodies or funding officers. Experience supporting vulnerable adults and/or survivors of sexual violence. Recent training (accredited or unaccredited) related to counselling, trauma or service delivery. General Responsibilities Work within Nexus policies, procedures and standards. Work across other Nexus projects where required. Maintain awareness of health and safety responsibilities and comply with Nexus Health and Safety procedures. Comply with Nexus Diversity and Equality policies and practices. Comply with all relevant child and vulnerable adult safeguarding policies. Maintain and develop competence in the use of IT systems. This role offers flexible working hours based on service needs and will require availability to work at least one evening per week.
