As demand accelerates in the Engineering Services sector, we are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to drive strategic growth from our entire UK&I service offering.
Key Aspects of the Role
We are looking for an experienced Bid Manager to be part of our very successful Market Pursuits team in the UK. You will lead and manage our strategic pursuits, working alongside other colleagues in the Market Pursuits team, key account/client managers and business area directors in positioning/pursuit through to bid. You will organise and bring together pursuit/bid teams and lead PQQ/Tender stages, linking quality and cost. You will provide challenge and rigour to the bid process, implementing a best practice approach that will be shared across the UK&I business.
You will be part of a central team covering Buildings, Energy, Environment & Health, Transport and Water Markets. The team works directly on Ramboll UK’s most important strategic bids, but at the same time has built a centre of excellence providing the ‘go to’ place for all our bids where we have access to our best material. You will play a critical role in supporting Ramboll growth ambitions and successfully delivering our ongoing strategy to be ‘The Partner for Sustainable Change’.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Partnering with the relevant Business Owner/Key Account Manager to plan, lead, and manage the pursuit of a specific client opportunity, through all phases of the overall pursuit process including positioning, expression of interest, qualification, proposal/bid, and interview;
* Will lead and develop Pursuit Win Plan including Value Proposition, potential partnering strategy, gathers market intelligence, competitor analysis etc, to generate a winning position;
* Act as the challenger or healthy skeptic to ensure compliance with win plan/strategies and communicate when the process is failing/where a win would be in jeopardy;
* Support Governance process including development of supporting material for decision gates;
* Lead the Ramboll PQQ, proposal, and interview production process, including facilitating development of sales messages and themes, ensuring process compliance and integration between quality and price;
* Manage all aspects of the pursuit team, including stakeholders and technical input, resource selection process, proposal coordinators, graphic design and DP team and coordinates quality and commercial response;
* Oversee content development and ensure all sections are consistent with win strategy;
* Conduct periodic status meetings with the bid team;
About you
We are looking for a highly organised and process driven individual with excellent attention to detail and the ability to drive excellence through all stages of the bid process.
You will ideally have:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in Bid/Pursuit Manager role in similar market sectors/industry with evidence of leading significant/strategic pursuits within the UK and/or overseas;
* Understanding and experience of applying best practice pursuit/bid process (e.g. Shipley) and of sharing best practice with others;
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to ‘bring people along’;
* Ability to build internal and external relationships effectively across sector and hierarchy;
* Excellent proposal planning management and development skills;
* Proposal writing skills and editing, knows ‘what good looks like’;
* Ability to multi-task, delegate and work well under pressure while maintaining a sense of humour!;
* Creative out-of-the-box thinking;
* Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include; enjoying being part of a team but equally being comfortable working ‘remotely’. Responsive and flexible, and able to use own initiative to get things done.
