Job Description Service Care Solutions is supporting the COVID-19 Inquiry in Scotland, who are seeking Assistant Solicitors to join their legal team. As an Assistant Solicitor, you will play a crucial role within the Inquiry’s legal team—investigating evidence, identifying witnesses, supporting hearings, and contributing to the final report.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Solicitor role:
Provide general legal advice to the Chair and Inquiry team, with particular regard to the Inquiries Act 2005, Inquiries (Scotland) Rules 2007, and data handling.
Identify, recover, and analyse evidence; identify further lines of inquiry and witnesses.
Take witness statements and/or oversee statement takers.
Instruct and liaise with Counsel. Engage with solicitors representing core participants.
Draft and ensure compliance with Inquiry procedural and protocol documents
Manage redaction and disclosure of evidence in accordance with Inquiry policies
Essential Skills & Experience:
Qualified solicitor or advocate in Scotland.
Exceptional attention to detail for rigorous legal document analysis
Flexibility and adaptability, with a proactive approach to a variety of tasks.
