The opportunity Join a team involved in every stage of the development lifecycle — from early concept work through to in-service support and customer training. The Mission Planning Systems Team offers a wide range of work, giving you the chance to apply your existing skills while continually developing both technically and professionally. You’ll gain hands-on experience with real mission planning equipment used on weapon systems such as Storm Shadow, SPEAR, and other programmes currently in development. This includes opportunities to engage with customers, end users, and a broad range of teams across MBDA. A key part of the role is supporting the hardware and software environments that underpin our growing portfolio of mission planning systems. We’re looking for someone with practical experience of networked operating systems and associated hardware, ideally gained in a technical support or similar environment. From day one, you’ll be responsible for managing assets across the Mission Planning and Software Engineering departments, including software build installations. You’ll develop user-level familiarity with key applications and build an understanding of the weapon systems they support. Initially, you’ll have the opportunity to assist with validation and verification activities, working alongside experienced Systems Engineers. This role is designed with a long-term view, supporting progression towards a Systems Engineer position through peer mentoring and MBDA’s extensive training resources. Once established within the team, there may also be opportunities to provide on-site support for customer-delivered applications. What we're looking for from you: Experience in the ability to manage complex software operating environments Clear, methodical and rigorous approach to asset management A willingness to develop an understanding of System Engineering Process across the full lifecycle. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the aptitude to grasp working knowledge of company toolsets, such as Matrix PLM/ALM/DOORs in the short term. Ability to communicate and work effectively in a collaborative environment spanning a number of teams and locations is essential. Experience of technical problem solving and a strong ability to think analytically. General understanding of mission planning principles would be beneficial.
