Blair West is supporting Watkin Jones Group in their search for a Legal Director. This senior role reports directly to the Executive Team and is responsible for leading all litigation and dispute resolution activities within the company, focusing on areas such as cladding, fire safety, and commercial contracts.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading all legal disputes and litigation processes across the Group, from inception to resolution.
2. Providing strategic advice on dispute resolution to senior leadership, including the Executive Team.
3. Managing high-profile disputes, particularly in construction and property development sectors.
4. Overseeing formal legal proceedings such as court cases, arbitration, mediation, and adjudication.
5. Identifying legal risks proactively and implementing preventative strategies.
6. Managing external legal budgets and ensuring value from third-party legal advisors.
7. Overseeing internal dispute resolution processes and aligning legal outcomes with business objectives.
8. Reporting regularly on legal matters and ongoing cases to relevant stakeholders.
Ideal candidates will have:
* A law degree and qualified solicitor status with at least four years PQE, gained in-house or in private practice.
* Experience managing complex disputes, especially in construction or property development sectors.
* Proven ability to handle fire safety, cladding, and commercial contract disputes.
* Strong influence and communication skills at senior levels.
* A commercial mindset aligned with business goals.
* Experience managing external counsel and legal budgets effectively.
* Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
* High integrity and resilience under pressure.
