Logistics Team Leader - Nottingham - 3 month initial contract.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Logistics Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day activities of a team of around 15 staff within my client's busy logistics operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating workflow, ensuring operational targets are achieved, and maintaining high standards of efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, supervise, and support a team of logistics operatives to deliver operational targets.
* Organise daily workload, allocate tasks, and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
* Provide training, coaching, and guidance to staff, promoting a positive and high-performing team culture.
* Monitor performance, conduct regular reviews, and support staff development.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate with other departments (transport, warehouse, planning, etc.) to optimize workflow.
* Identify and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
* Track KPIs such as accuracy, productivity, and on-time performance, reporting results to management.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
* Cover for the Logistics Manager when required.
Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience in a supervisory/team leader role within logistics, warehousing, or distribution.
* Strong people management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Good organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
* Sound knowledge of logistics/warehouse operations and best practices.
* A strong commitment to health & safety.
