Project Controls Manager – AWS Infra Services
Amazon Web Services requires a highly motivated Project Controls Manager for critical infrastructure projects in operational data centers. This role provides data‑driven insight, forecasting, and governance to support decision‑making across complex capital projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop high‑level operational plans in partnership with stakeholder teams, specifying scope delivery, schedule, resource, and budget requirements.
- Create operational plans extending 12–18 months to provide financial and headcount investment lookahead.
- Standardize the process, tooling, data, and reporting requirements for measuring key portfolio performance indices to ensure portfolio success.
- Standardize program planning data—including scope definition, cost and labor estimates, and schedule estimates—for existing and new programs to enhance portfolio planning.
- Design and implement enhanced cost and labor estimating mechanisms that incorporate actual performance data into estimate iterations via automated feedback loops.
- Create and manage goals in safety, quality, team productivity, vendor performance, and cost control.
- Produce accurate and timely reporting on portfolio status for business and finance partners.
- Plan and host value stream mapping events with key stakeholders to measure work throughput, identify inefficiencies, determine root causes, and develop solutions to optimize processes to support program success.
- Gather feedback from internal customers and stakeholders to drive portfolio and program improvements.
- Apply change, risk, and resource management to adapt as organizational demands change.
- Develop new programs to support the strategic direction of the team with organizational goals.
- Provide strategic insight across stakeholder teams during monthly business reviews and produce accurate and timely reporting on portfolio status.
- Own and influence positive change, deploying and leveraging analytical data to drive quality, productivity, and cost improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to lead effective meetings with key stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment, engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
- Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
- Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
