Quality Inspector - Maternity Cover
This role offers the possibility of a permanent position within a global manufacturing company located in Kenfig Industrial Estate near Port Talbot. The contract is expected to end no earlier than February 2026.
The individual will work as part of a small team, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. Responsibilities include ensuring product quality through adherence to QMS checks, measurements, sampling, and inspection, as well as managing defective products.
The candidate must collaborate with other departments and be capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Effective communication at all levels and flexibility are essential to maintain plant operations. The role involves measuring production samples throughout shifts using gauges and measuring devices, with a high proficiency in data entry and analysis using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Initial wage rate: £12.56 per hour (approximately £27,499 per annum). Opportunities for further training and salary progression are available.
Own transport is required as the site is not near major transport links.
Work schedule: 42.1 hours per week, 12-hour shifts on a rotational basis (2 days/2 nights, 4 days off).
Must have the right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Previous experience as a quality assistant or inspector
* Support internal audit preparations for hygiene, BRC, and ISO standards
* Ensure safety, operational, hygiene, and quality standards are upheld
* Communicate effectively within a busy manufacturing environment
Qualifications
* Experience in manufacturing environments
* Self-motivated, reliable, thorough, and flexible
* Strong communication skills (written and oral)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
* Desirable:
* Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
* Experience with statistical process control (SPC)
* Understanding of ISO 9001 standards
* Internal auditing experience
