We are currently recruiting for a Controls System Technician onsite at Grain to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of Grain LNG’s assets through efficient maintenance activities of the terminal control and safety systems, including operation, modification, and maintenance tasks.
The Controls System Technician will be responsible for the safe and timely completion of duties related to Control System equipment, including maintenance, fault investigation, repair, modification, minor operational projects, and commissioning support, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Experience and understanding of process control and functional safety are highly desirable.
The role is based onsite at Grain (Kent). Candidates must be able to drive there and hold a full clean license.
Key Accountabilities
* Collaborate with Process, Commercial operations, stakeholders, and contractors to maximize efficiency through the annual plan.
* Identify and address training needs to ensure competence and flexibility for current and future workloads.
* Maintain accurate data records to support management and regulatory reporting of KPIs.
* Keep detailed records of system changes.
* Ensure safety and process-critical system availability and reliability.
* Participate in standby and emergency response activities as per the terminal’s EIMS.
* Supervise contract personnel during project or maintenance work.
* Perform and complete work independently, including in remote locations within the site boundary.
* Adhere to safety guidelines, including “Golden Rules,” and complete related documentation (MoC, NRO, PTW, etc.).
About you
You should have strong interpersonal skills, customer orientation, and innovative thinking. A good understanding of gas installation plant and machinery, along with teamwork skills, is essential. The role requires demonstrated knowledge in:
* Fault-finding capabilities.
* Field control and instrumentation.
* ICSS, PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systems.
* Safety systems, emergency shutdowns, HIPPS, and fire & gas detection systems.
* Standards such as COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, EMMUA 191, BS EN 61508, BS EN 61511, and UKAS.
* Cyber Security fundamentals for industrial control systems.
* Minimum education: ONC (Engineering) or equivalent; HNC or equivalent is desirable.
