Looking for a fresh challenge? We are recruiting for our inpatient services in the forward-thinking SALT team at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, in the beautiful Weald of Kent. This will be based at either Tunbridge Wells HospitalorMaidstoneHospital to help deliver specialist speech and language therapy to expanding intensive care units, as well as the general acute caseload on the medical, respiratory, cardiac, gastroenterology, frailty units and care of the elderly wards.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking someone who is proactive with a special interest in the acute setting to progress in our dynamic acute adult inpatient service based at Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone hospitals. You will be offered a comprehensive program of continuing professional development and will contribute to continuous quality improvement.
We are a team of 20 speech and language therapists and 5 assistants, and a mouthcare matters lead nurse. Our ITU in Tunbridge Wells is proud to be the first unit in the UK to gain HU-CI Certification of Good Practices in the Humanisation of Intensive Care. We are also proactively involved in research as official recruiters for the PLORAS and PhEAST trials

Qualifications
* Degree or post graduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy
* Registered member of HCPC
* Registered member of RCSLT
Skills
* Evidence of ongoing CPD/reflective practice
* Able to apply theory to practice for patients on an acute caseload
* High level written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational and reflection skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage your own time effectively
Experience/Knowledge
* Post-graduate experience with adults
* Experience of working in an acute setting
* Multidisciplinary team working
* Postgraduate experience of training in dysphagia
* Sound knowledge of SLT assessments used with adults in the acute setting
* Ability to diagnose a full range of communication and swallowing disorders within clinical specialty
* Understanding of the principles of clinical governance
* Experience of supervising others
* Knowledge of relevant national policies and standards
* Knowledge/experience of instrumental assessment
