 
        
        Welsh Language Translator (Marketing & Communications)

We are seeking an experienced Welsh Language Translator to support the Marketing & Communications department at Cardiff and the Vale College.
Key Responsibilities
 * Manage the college’s translation workflow, coordinating requests across departments to ensure compliance and promote sustainable growth of the Welsh language.
 * Evaluate and manage relationships with external translators, determining whether work should be completed in-house or outsourced based on workload, deadlines, and complexity.
 * Professionally translate a variety of materials from English to Welsh and from Welsh to English.
 * Ensure all translations are accurate, high‑quality and culturally appropriate, following agreed terminology and style guides.
 * Provide proofreading and quality assurance for internally and externally produced Welsh language materials.
 * Maintain an up‑to‑date database of translation resources, terminology and preferred suppliers.
 * Support a mentoring programme to help staff improve Welsh language skills and confidence.
 * Welsh language skills are essential for this role.
Contract Details
Fixed‑term contract until October 2026. Contractual hours: 15 hours per week. Basis: Part‑time Fractional.
Remuneration & Benefits
Salary: £32,189 – £34,381 pro rata.
Benefits include generous annual leave, a health scheme and a 16.30% employer contribution to the Local Government Pension scheme (£2,098.72 (Min) – £2,241.64 (Max)).
