United Living Infrastructure Services is made up of our two subsidiaries, United Living Energy Limited and United Living Water Limited. United Living Energy is a UK gas and energy engineering specialist offering design, build and maintenance on critical national infrastructure for the UK gas asset owners. United Living Water provide a comprehensive range of water infrastructure services covering all aspects of pipeline networks including investigation, design, planning infrastructure maintenance, mains rehabilitation, new connections, metering and repairs.
Job Description
Design Delivery
1. Produce and review detailed 2D/3D design drawings and specifications for pipeline infrastructure and associated temporary works.
2. Develop engineering calculations and design reports in accordance with BS, EN, and Eurocode standards.
3. Lead and validate temporary works designs, including: - Pipe supports and crossings - Stopple pits, flumes, trench boxes - Ditch crossings, bogmats, and sheet-piled excavations.
Coordination & Technical Leadership
4. Act as the technical lead for assigned projects, supervising junior engineers and CAD technicians.
5. Manage design interfaces with clients, third parties, contractors, and project managers.
6. Support the development of Design Risk Assessments (DRA) and ensure that residual risks are effectively communicated to the delivery teams.
Innovation & Process Development
7. Identify and implement innovative design methods, technologies, and tools (, point cloud processing, BIM).
8. Participate in R&D initiatives related to pipeline integrity, temporary works, and digital construction.
Compliance & Handover
9. Ensure designs comply with CDM 2015 regulations and company SHEQ standards.
10. Support site teams with design change applications and resolve non-conformance issues.
Prepare and issue as-built drawings and records for client handover.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• BEng/MEng in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE, IStructE, IMechE)
Additional Information
Experience
• Minimum of 6–8 years’ experience in design engineering, specialising in civil infrastructure or pipelines
• Proven experience in both permanent and temporary works design
• Working knowledge of BS 5975 and Eurocodes (steel, concrete, timber)
