The role of Technical Process & HSE Manager will play a critical part in building and maintaining site-wide regulatory systems and safety culture. From managing compliance with FSA, Defra, and EHO requirements to developing smart, practical improvements on the production line. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same!!\n\nResponsibilities for the Technical Process & HSE Manager:\n\n * \n\n Lead and maintain full site compliance with all relevant food safety and HSE legislation (FSA, Defra, APHA, EHO, EC)\n\n * \n\n Manage and evolve food safety systems including HACCP, VACCP, TACCP, allergen control, and traceability\n\n * \n\n Champion a strong safety and hygiene culture across the factory, from leadership to the production line\n\n * \n\n Own and oversee all technical documentation including SOPs, risk assessments, QMS, and cleaning records\n\n * \n\n Prepare the site for all audits and inspections — internal, customer, and external (regulatory)\n\n * \n\n Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective/preventative actions\n\n * \n\n Work alongside Engineering and Production teams to support hygienic machine design and process safety\n\n * \n\n Drive continuous improvement across compliance, hygiene, and safety standards\n\n * \n\n Deliver training sessions and ongoing support to team leads and operatives on technical and safety procedures\n\n * \n\n Develop and manage specifications for raw materials, packaging, and supplier technical approval\n\n * \n\n Act as the primary point of contact for HSE on-site, supported by external specialists as required\n\nRequirements for the Technical Process & HSE Manager:\n\n * \n\n Previous experience in a technical, compliance, or safety-focused role in food manufacturing (human or pet food) is essential\n\n * \n\n Strong working knowledge of UK food safety standards, HACCP, traceability, and hygiene practices is essential\n\n * \n\n NEBOSH, IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification is essential\n\n * \n\n Experience managing or contributing to audit processes — with confidence in liaising with auditors and regulators\n\n * \n\n Comfortable leading documentation, risk assessments, and technical reporting\n\n * \n\n Hands-on, collaborative mindset with the ability to influence teams and embed high standards\n\n * \n\n Strong problem-solving skills — with the ability to apply safety, compliance, and technical thinking to real-time production issues\n\n * \n\n Familiarity with automation systems (e.g.
sensors, actuators) and mechanical process improvements is a plus\n\n * \n\n Bonus: Knowledge of EU pet food legislation (e.g. EC No 183/2005) is advantageous but not essential
