Role Overview
As a Charge Nurse you will deliver patient‑centred mental health care, lead a multidisciplinary team, administer medication and oversee clinical and managerial aspects of the ward. You will work flexible 24‑hour shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff and trainees.
* Conduct detailed assessments and risk assessments of service users.
* Develop and implement recovery‑focused care plans in partnership with the MDT.
* Administer and monitor medication in line with Trust and Nursing and Midwifery Council policy.
* Act as primary nurse for inpatient service users and manage the ward environment.
* Ensure effective discharge planning and liaison with community services.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of mental health legislation, the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding procedures.
* Communicate effectively with service users, families and carers, respecting cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
* Promote a therapeutic environment and safeguard patient, staff and Trust reputation.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD / Adult) appropriate to the role.
* Professional qualification or diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
* Completion of Mentorship Course / ENB equivalent.
* Significant post‑qualifying experience in mental health care.
* Evidenced continuous professional development.
