Facilities Supervisor
Location: Lyndhurst
Salary: £45 – £50k (DOE)
Hours: Full-time
Hybrid Working: 50% onsite/50% WFH
About the Role
An opportunity has come up for a Facilities Supervisor to join a busy Civic Buildings & Facilities team supporting a varied portfolio of public buildings. The role is focused on keeping buildings safe, compliant and running efficiently, while leading a small team responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, compliance checks and a range of improvement projects.
The buildings you’ll be involved with include offices, depots, leisure facilities and shared premises, so the work is varied and offers plenty of challenge. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Estates, Valuation, Health & Safety, Sustainability and other internal teams, contributing to wider service changes and supporting ongoing operational improvements.
If you enjoy a mix of technical work, management responsibility and day-to-day problem solving, this role will suit you well.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support the Civic Buildings & Facilities team, acting as the main contact for daily operations
• Oversee planned maintenance programmes, reactive repairs and statutory compliance checks
• Monitor building performance and ensure safe working practices across all sites
• Keep property information up to date, including condition data, maintenance schedules and H&S records
• Provide practical guidance on contracts, regulations, project delivery and building-related issues
• Manage compliance across areas such as fire safety, legionella, electrical testing, DDA, asbestos, lifts and general Health & Safety
• Contribute to sustainability, energy management and whole-life cost planning
• Support the delivery of building improvement projects and service-wide change initiatives
• Review and improve reporting tools, dashboards and CAFM usage
• Help embed service KPIs and report against them
• Work with the Health & Safety team to develop first aid and fire safety management policies
• Advise on building matters relating to commercial investment properties
• Escalate complex issues or emerging risks to the Service Lead
About You
We’re looking for someone who can bring:
• Strong experience in facilities management, building maintenance and compliance
• Previous background supervising or managing a team
• Solid technical understanding of building construction and relevant regulations
• Experience delivering and monitoring projects in operational environments
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues at all levels
• Clear, practical problem-solving ability and confidence working independently
• Working knowledge of IT systems, including MS Office and CAFM platforms
• A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
• NEBOSH or similar H&S qualification
• Experience developing asset management plans
• Experience working with partners or contractors on planned maintenance programmes
