Systems Developer – Backend Integrations (Cloud-Native | E-Commerce | High-Volume Systems)
Location: Naer Liverpool Airport (Hybrid)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands‑on Systems Developer to join a fast‑moving, tech‑driven engineering team working at the heart of a high-volume e‑commerce operation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and building scalable, cloud‑native solutions that power real‑time business operations.
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
* Designing and delivering robust backend integrations between e‑commerce platforms (e.g., Magento) and core business systems including WMS, ERP and Finance.
* Building scalable middleware, supporting order management, inventory sync and real‑time data exchange.
* Developing containerised microservices using Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, and DDD principles.
* Creating REST APIs and event‑driven workflows to ensure secure, performant communication across distributed systems.
* Implementing enterprise integration patterns: message routing, data transformation, enrichment and synchronisation.
* Ensuring system reliability using queue‑based processing, retries, circuit breakers, and fallback strategies.
* Maintaining high engineering standards through code reviews, testing practices (TDD/BDD), and knowledge sharing.
* Leveraging observability tools to monitor integration health and ensure SLA performance.
💡 What You’ll Bring
* 5+ years’ experience in backend development any of the following/ more of: Golang, C# (.NET Core), PHP, Python.
* Strong SQL experience (MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQL Server).
* Hands‑on background integrating e‑commerce platforms with WMS/ERP systems.
* Solid grasp of design patterns (GoF, enterprise integration patterns).
* Strong architectural understanding: DDD, Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, SOLID, 12‑Factor principles.
* Experience with CI/CD, Git branching, unit testing and static analysis.
* Familiarity with Docker, cloud platforms (AWS preferred – EC2, Lambda, SQS, RDS) and message queues (RabbitMQ, SQS, Redis).
* Practical experience using observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, CloudWatch.
* GraphQL exposure
* AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
* Understanding of PCI, EDI or warehouse automation
* Experience in high‑volume retail environments (Black Friday, peak trading)
