Job Description
New Directions Education are seeking a reliable and passionate Teaching assistant for one of our partner Secondary Schools in Stretford. This is a support role based in KS3 and KS4, so experience of supporting pupils with additional needs such as autism and ADHD is essential. This is a long term full time role starting in September on a full time basis. We expect the role to go permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities of Teaching Assistant
• Provide learning support for students on a 1:1 or general basis
• Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
• Establish trusting relationships with pupils with interactions according to individual needs and personalities.
• Work closely with SENCo and Class Teacher to ensure learning is tailored to needs of pupils
Personal Specification of Teaching Assistant
• Have experience supporting Secondary aged students
• Have a strong understanding of SEND Needs such as: Autism and SEMH
• Willing to support in the classroom as well deliver targeted interventions centering on speech and language
• Have an ability to use own initiative with an ability to ‘think on your feet’
• Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
