24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer – Newtownabbey (Onsite)


Salary: up to £32,000 + 30% guaranteed shift allowance


Overview

We are looking for a proactive and technically capable NOC Engineer to join our 24/7 Operations Centre based onsite in Belfast. You will play a key role in supporting critical IT and network infrastructure, responding to incidents, and ensuring high service availability for a diverse customer base.

This is a shift-based role covering both day and night rotations:

* 4 days on (07:00–19:00), 4 days off
* 4 days on, 4 days off
* 4 nights on (19:00–07:00), 4 nights off
* 4 nights on, 4 nights off
* Cycle repeats back to day shifts

You will work closely with engineering and service teams to ensure incidents are resolved efficiently and service levels are consistently met. This role suits someone who enjoys hands‑on technical troubleshooting in a fast‑moving, operational environment.


Key Responsibilities

* Act as the initial escalation point for incoming technical incidents and service requests
* Log, track, and manage tickets using service management tools, aiming for high first‑time resolution rates
* Work within defined SLAs to ensure timely and effective incident resolution
* Maintain clear and accurate shift handovers between teams
* Keep customers updated throughout incident investigation and resolution
* Troubleshoot and configure network equipment including Cisco, Juniper, Adtran devices, routers, switches, DSLAMs, and modems
* Diagnose and support issues across multiple circuit types such as ADSL, SDSL, Ethernet, NGA, MPF, and SMPF
* Liaise with third‑party providers and external engineers to drive fault resolution
* Provide remote support to field engineers, including testing and configuration validation
* Monitor network performance and availability using tools such as SolarWinds


What We’re Looking For

* Previous experience in a Service Desk, Helpdesk, or NOC environment
* Strong IT/network troubleshooting skills with structured escalation experience
* Knowledge of enterprise networking; CCNA or equivalent hands‑on experience preferred
* Familiarity with Windows operating systems and basic server support
* Experience working with third‑party vendors and managing escalations
* Understanding of ITIL‑based service environments and SLA‑driven support
