Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor based at Fradley Junction. The ideal candidate will prioritize excellent customer service, manage a team, and oversee maintenance and repair works to uphold the network’s reputation as a valued national asset. Responsibilities include team scheduling, recruitment, health & safety compliance, and hands-on construction activities, particularly in carpentry, bricklaying, or plumbing.
Location & Coverage
Based at Fradley Junction, with regular travel across the West Midlands and support for other regions. The primary work areas include Litchfield, Birmingham, Coventry, Leamington Spa, and others. See the working area map and network details in the links provided.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform construction tasks and supervise a small team of operatives on-site.
2. Motivate staff, resolve issues, and manage holidays and absences.
3. Support the Construction Manager and deputize when necessary.
4. Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and according to specifications.
5. Coordinate with other teams, third parties, and manage logistics.
6. Act as Temporary Works Supervisor, ensuring safety and compliance.
7. Supervise trainees and apprentices, supporting their development.
8. Engage with volunteers and ensure effective contribution.
9. Manage relationships with contractors and ensure efficient delivery of works.
10. Provide feedback on service issues and produce relevant reports.
11. Maintain equipment and yard safety standards.
12. Assist with administrative tasks and reporting.
Health & Safety
* Promote safety culture, complete safety paperwork, and report incidents.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential: Recognized craft qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or apprenticeship), valid plant operation competency, safety qualification, team leadership experience, construction environment experience, basic IT skills, and a valid driving license.
Desirable: Heritage/environmental awareness, additional plant operation licenses, Temporary Works Supervision, and Lift Supervisor competencies.
