Looking for SEMH Support Staff in Barnsley! Job Title: SEMH Support Staff Location: Barnsley Salary: £460 – £600 per week Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day Start Date: Immediately Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? A supportive and inclusive school in Barnsley is seeking dedicated SEMH Support Staff to join their team. About the School: The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in education. Staff work closely together to create a consistent, trauma-informed approach that prioritises wellbeing, safety, and positive relationships. The setting is focused on helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop confidence in a supportive atmosphere. About the Role: As SEMH Support Staff, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning. You will provide both classroom-based and targeted support, helping students overcome barriers to learning and build positive routines within school. Responsibilities: Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and small group settings Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive choices Help implement individual support strategies and behaviour plans Work alongside teaching staff to maintain a structured learning environment Provide emotional support and encouragement to help pupils engage in lessons Support the development of social skills and self-regulation Record and report observations on pupil progress and behaviour Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable Strong communication and relationship-building skills Calm, patient, and consistent approach in challenging situations Ability to work effectively as part of a team Commitment to supporting vulnerable learners in education A proactive and resilient attitude This is a rewarding opportunity for SEMH Support Staff in Barnsley to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who need additional support to succeed.
