About the Role
As a Packaging Technologist, you’ll play a key role in developing, improving and delivering packaging solutions across our product portfolio. Working closely with NPD, Technical, Operations, Procurement and our supplier base, you’ll ensure all packaging meets customer expectations, technical standards, sustainability targets and commercial requirements.
You’ll support projects from concept through to launch, ensuring packaging is fit for purpose, cost‑effective and compliant with food safety and legislative standards.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver innovative packaging solutions for new and existing products

Manage packaging trials on site, ensuring successful scale‑up from concept to production
*
Work closely with suppliers to source materials, validate specifications and drive continuous improvement
*
Ensure all packaging meets food safety, quality, legal and retailer standards
*
Support sustainability initiatives, including material reduction, recyclability and packaging optimisation
*
Maintain accurate packaging specifications and documentation
*
Troubleshoot packaging issues and provide technical support to production teams
*
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including NPD, Technical, Operations and Commercial
*
Monitor market trends, competitor activity and new technologies to keep the business ahead of the curve
About You
*
Experience as a Packaging Technologist within food manufacturing or FMCG
*
Strong understanding of packaging materials (plastics, board, films, laminates etc.) and manufacturing processes
*
Knowledge of food safety, legal compliance and retailer technical requirements
*
Confident running factory trials and solving packaging‑related issues
*
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence internal teams and external suppliers
*
Strong project management skills and the ability to work at pace
*
Passionate about innovation and sustainability
*
Highly organised, detail‑driven and proactive
