About the Company/Hospital:
Appoint Healthcare partners with a reputable, growing UK provider of health and social care services for adults with complex mental health challenges. We are seeking a Hospital Manager for an 18-bed locked rehabilitation unit for males aged 18-65 in Port Talbot. Referrals come from medium/low secure hospitals, PICU, acute admissions, and the Criminal Justice System. Patients are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
About the Job Role of Registered Hospital Manager:
* Understand the business side of the facility, influencing decision-making at senior levels.
* Recognize how decisions impact patients and staff, enhancing leadership and management efficiency.
* Lead a care team to deliver high-quality care that positively impacts service users' lives.
* Support the team and manage daily hospital operations.
* Inspire staff to maintain high standards of care.
* Oversee the hospital's overall direction, strategy, and vision for staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage budgets, resources, and monitor performance.
* Handle revenue, expenses, financial planning, forecasting, cash flow, and billing.
* Ensure care standards meet legal and regulatory requirements, including the Health & Social Care Act 2008 and HIW standards.
* Maintain staff training, research updates, legislative compliance, and current healthcare practices.
* Clarify staff responsibilities and provide necessary support.
* Develop and review care plans to meet residents' needs with dignity and respect.
* Manage recruitment, retention, training, motivation, and conduct appraisals and disciplinary actions.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in learning disabilities or mental health as a Registered Hospital Manager or strong Deputy/Nurse Manager experience.
* QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent/working towards.
* Clinical experience preferred.
* Good understanding of regulatory responsibilities and laws relating to care services in Wales.
* Experience in improving HIW ratings.
* Knowledge of health and safety and risk management in hospital care.
* Ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, staff, and professionals.
