About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer – Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) to join our team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry.
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high‑quality engineering solutions, specialising in Digital Radiography and X‑ray Computed Tomography (CT). You will support technical projects end‑to‑end—from concept through to delivery—while continuously improving NDT processes and ensuring exceptional product quality.
This is a predominantly on‑site position, with occasional travel to partner sites depending on project needs.
What You Will Be Doing
* Provide lead‑time and cost estimates for job requests.
* Maintain and execute machine control plans to ensure stable and compliant processes.
* Resolve non‑conformance issues to ensure all products meet specification.
* Work directly with customers to optimise part designs for inspection and ensure quality‑aligned inspection methods.
* Drive continuous improvement in NDT processes to reduce lead times, costs and non‑conformance rates.
* Train, mentor and support technicians in Digital Radiography and X‑ray CT operations.
* Share lessons learned and best practice across engineering teams.
* Produce high‑quality reports, certificates and documentation to agreed formats.
* Conduct root‑cause analysis and generate detailed findings where required.
* Communicate inspection results clearly to key stakeholders.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
* Practical experience operating Digital Radiography and X‑ray CT systems.
* Strong operational knowledge of Digital Radiography and X‑ray CT processes.
* Understanding of core principles and applications of these NDT techniques.
* Ability to introduce new processes and control plans alongside technical specialists.
* Hands‑on capability to carry out inspection duties and improve product quality.
* Strong analytical and root‑cause problem‑solving skills.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
* A collaborative, “One MTC” mindset with excellent teamwork skills.
* Ability to manage your own workload within project teams.
* A pragmatic, hands‑on approach and willingness to engage in practical work.
* Adaptability to changing requirements and evolving priorities.
* Strong awareness of safety and ability to implement safe systems of work.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience producing clear, structured technical documentation.
* A strong industrial background across major NDT disciplines, with a focus on Digital Radiography and X‑ray CT.
Desirable Experience
* Proven track record in continuous improvement and/or project management.
* Experience developing SOPs and work instructions.
* Experience creating or maturing NDT processes.
