Interim Financial Controller

A prestigious and mission-driven not for profit organisation is seeking an Interim Financial Controller to lead the finance team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Our client is seeking a senior finance leader to take ownership of financial control, compliance, and technical accounting, with the opportunity to contribute to a purpose-driven organisation that combines a rich heritage with a progressive, forward-thinking culture. Key Responsibilities
* Lead financial control and compliance across the organisation.
* Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and manage the external audit process.
* Provide expert advice on VAT and Gift Aid, ensuring regulatory compliance.
* Manage and develop a team of eight finance professionals covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Statutory Accounts, and Treasury.
* Manage and develop the Payroll and Pensions team, ensuring adherence to UK legislation.
* Maintain and enhance financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders to support financial planning and reporting.
* Ensure compliance with Charity SORP and other relevant accounting standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
* Significant experience in financial control, audit, and compliance.
* Strong working knowledge of UK accounting standards, including Charity SORP.
* Expertise in VAT and Gift Aid within a not-for-profit or complex organisation.
* Experience managing payroll and pensions in line with UK regulations.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate.
