South Rural Primary Care Network (PCN) are looking to welcome an experienced paramedic to the team on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours a week. This can be worked across either 4 or 5 days to suit the applicant. The role will be based at the Holbrook and Shotley practice. To be considered for this role, you will need to have 2 years consolidation of learning period completed as a newly qualified paramedic and a further 3 years experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic. Working within the community, as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, you will provide assessment, management and treatment to our patients. Duties will include; Assess, manage, treat, refer and/or signpost patients/service users who attend surgery with undifferentiated or undiagnosed condition relating to minor illness or minor injury. Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment. Manage and treat patients presenting with minor illness. Triage and treat patients, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team. Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments. Perform investigatory procedures needed by patients and those requested by the GPs. Communicate at all levels within the team ensuring an effective service is delivered. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous healthcare records appropriate to the consultation. Actively participate in mentoring and supervision, plus practice-derived CPD opportunities. Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and work colleagues. If a prescriber - prescribe/issue medications as appropriate following policy, patient group directives NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways. About the Candidate If you are an experienced emergency care practitioner (ECP) / paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience: Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care. Have completed ENP/ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider. Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients. Be able to evaluate patient care confidently. Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines. To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively. Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council. Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working. Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children. About Us Our PCN provides services to 56,000 patients across rural Suffolk.
