Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our highly collaborative team!
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for preparing high quality geological and environmental thin-section samples which critically underpin an exciting and diverse range of commercial and research projects at CGG. These samples are analysed by our Geological Analysis and Interpretation teams to help our clients better understand their surface challenges.
You will work in a team based at our laboratories in North Wales and other locations in the UK and overseas, including onshore and offshore if required (wellsite and on vessels)
Principle Accountabilities
1. Data capture and analysis using general (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and bespoke software and data systems
2. Apply conventional and bespoke approaches, with guidance from the team, in order to prepare challenging sample materials
3. Prepare high quality geological samples whilst at wellsite, as part of a shift work orientated team, when required.
4. Liaise with clients (internal and external) on projects and workflows to provide a best-in-class service;
5. Compliance in legislative and company policies and procedures, including attention to HSE and quality control.
Qualifications
Essential
6. Relevant experience as a Laboratory Technician or similar.
7. Minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Science, Maths and English.
8. Strong IT skills with background knowledge of Laboratory defined databases
Desirable
9. Higher Education qualification, HNC, HND or University Degree
10. OPTI FOET and CA-EBS qualification (although training can be given)
11. First Aid Trained
12. Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical workings of appliances

13. Understand business requirements and to define and manage project deadlines
14. Use problem solving techniques in your main discipline, with knowledge of other laboratory techniques
15. Identify issues and create and share new ideas and solutions with the Thin Section team
16. Willingness to learn and work in a variety of laboratories, as part of a team;
17. Reflect a client-focused outlook
