SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Erdington, Birmingham (B24) - Easily accessible from Sutton Coldfield, Perry Common, Castle Vale and Wylde Green Day Rate: £105-£115 Days: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only Start Date: January 2026 (immediate start available for the right candidate) Contract: Long-Term, Temp to Perm We are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive secondary school in Erdington. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with a range of additional needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language difficulties. Key Responsibilities Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND Helping pupils regulate emotions and behaviours throughout the school day Supporting access to the curriculum across English, maths, science and wider subjects Implementing personalised support plans and EHCP targets Assisting with routines, transitions and behaviour support strategies Sharing feedback with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teams Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils who benefit from routine and structure Supporting targeted interventions to develop literacy, numeracy and social communication skills What We're Looking For Experience supporting young people with SEND in a school, PRU, or youth-focused environment Strong behaviour management skills and patience in challenging situations Good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries Ability to follow behaviour plans, regulation techniques and escalation protocols A resilient, reliable and committed approach Confidence working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral teams Awareness of the secondary curriculum A nurturing, calm and adaptable manner About the School This Erdington secondary school is known for its inclusive ethos, organised SEND provision and commitment to supporting the whole child.
