The Role
We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Lecturer (Teaching) for our Fashion team. Our Fashion programmes are renowned for industry links and a track record of over nineteen years of successful graduates who have advanced to leading positions worldwide.
This role involves teaching industry practices, design development, product realization techniques, and industry-specific and transferable skills. The candidate should be proactive in using both traditional and digital tools, introducing innovative communication methods based on current and emerging fashion industry practices. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially in image production, editing, and film editing, is essential. Knowledge of AR, VR, and AI technologies from a fashion perspective is advantageous.
The successful candidate must have a strong and current awareness of developments in the fashion industry and be enthusiastic about working in innovative and experimental ways across our fashion courses. They should be capable of developing globally competitive portfolios and contributing to promotional activities. Confidence in both physical and online teaching methods, tools, and practices is required. The candidate must be qualified or willing to qualify to teach and assess at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Qualifications Required
* Masters degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with relevant professional qualification and/or membership
* A teaching qualification or willingness to acquire one if not already held
* PhD or active membership of a professional body is advantageous
Our Successful Candidate
The candidate should be dynamic, eager to build an academic profile in creative arts education, and experienced in fashion. They should have active engagement in fashion design, marketing, promotion, or communication, with a proven track record of applying fashion skills within the creative sector. Qualification at least to Masters level or equivalent professional experience is required, along with a good understanding of the fashion industry, innovative practices, and contemporary cultural roles of fashion in the UK. Experience in educational innovation and high digital fluency are desirable. Candidates without a teaching qualification must undertake Coventry University’s PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship.
The candidate should possess cultural awareness, experience with diverse learners, and the ability to communicate effectively with people from varied backgrounds.
