Children's Safeguarding and Liaison Nurse

Location: Worthing Hospital (cross‑site work at St. Richard's Hospital). Fixed‑term, 12 months, part‑time. Salary: £39,959–£48,117 per annum, pro rata. Reference number: 279-7941329-MAY26-A.
Responsibilities
* Manage safeguarding concerns and referrals, advocating for vulnerable children in contact with the Trust.
* Collaborate with local safeguarding partners to ensure best outcomes for children.
* Plan and implement safeguarding training, supervise the MDT and receive senior Safeguarding Team supervision.
* Lead practice improvement projects such as newsletters and "Case of the Month"; act as Neglect Champion.
* Scrutinise all paediatric attendances to urgent care settings (Emergency Department and wards).
* Maintain liaison with health‑care professionals and partner agencies, ensuring effective processes.
* Escalate concerns per Trust and multi‑agency guidance.
* Organise and deliver safeguarding training for clinical and non‑clinical staff across the Trust.
* Apply the NMC code of conduct and the Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff (2019) in daily practice.
* Support the Named Nurse and wider team on safeguarding issues.
* Foster effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
* Communicate effectively with children and families.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Children’s Nurse, Midwife or equivalent (SCPHN).
* Teaching qualification or experience.
* Evidence of resilience and passion for safeguarding.
* Experience in a variety of clinical settings.
* Experience in safeguarding children practice.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
