Mental Health Research Group (MHRG) – Service User Researcher
Lancaster University, a world‑class research institution, invites applications for the Service User Researcher position in the newly established Mental Health Research Group. The role is supported by the Division of Health Research and funded by the National Institute for Health Research.
Role Overview
Your role will be to facilitate the inclusion of lived‑experience voices across the MHRG programme, developing and maintaining relationships with service users, statutory services, voluntary organisations, academics and clinicians.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and support service‑user participation in research projects and theme development.
* Engage with service users, statutory services, voluntary organisations, academics and clinicians to ensure diverse perspectives are reflected.
* Travel across the UK (primarily North West England) to meet stakeholders and attend meetings.
* Contribute to the establishment and operation of the "Voices with Impact Hub".
* Support the MHRG team in prioritising research questions and ensuring that lived‑experience voices remain central.
Key Qualifications
* Experience or lived experience of mental health services.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Demonstrated interest in mental health research.
* Desirable: prior research or project‑management experience.
Employment Details
Full‑time, fixed‑term contract starting July 2026, contingent on external funding ending 30 June 2031. Flexible working arrangements (condensed hours, days, start/finish times) can be discussed in line with business needs.
