Assembly Operative – Precision & Aerospace Manufacturing

Salary: £30,000–£32,000 + comprehensive benefits
Hours: 37 per week (Mon–Thurs: 08:00–17:00 | Fri: 08:00–12:00)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
We are a leading precision engineering and aerospace manufacturer based in Denham, seeking an Assembly Operative to join our production and fitting team.
In this practical, hands-on role, you will assemble and inspect complex mechanical sub-assemblies and aerospace components used in safety-critical equipment. Working from detailed engineering drawings and build instructions, you will ensure every assembly meets the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, fit, and inspect a variety of mechanical components and sub-assemblies, including retraction units, deployment units, and structural assemblies.
Interpret and work from engineering drawings, build plans, and technical documentation.
Use hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and pneumatic or manual riveting equipment (solid and blind).
Perform bonding and sealing tasks using adhesives such as Araldite and Loctite.
Install inserts (e.g., Helicoils), locking pins, and threaded components to specified requirements.
Carry out dimensional checks and document inspection results using gauges and measuring tools.
Complete self-inspection and final inspection activities in accordance with internal and aerospace quality standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-focused working environment.
About You
Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or assembly setting (aerospace or precision engineering background advantageous).
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to fine tolerances.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, measuring instruments, gauges, jigs, and fixtures.
Knowledge of bonding, riveting, or mechanical fitting techniques.
Understanding of health & safety and quality processes.
Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a proactive team approach.
An engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
