Workshop Forklift Engineer / Forklift Technician

Location: East Kilbride (Workshop-Based Role)
Salary: Competitive + Overtime Opportunities
Hours: 40–45 hours per week | Monday – Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Workshop Forklift Engineer to join a professional engineering team based at a busy workshop in East Kilbride. This role is ideal for an experienced Forklift Engineer, Plant Fitter, or Mechanical Technician who enjoys working in a structured workshop environment preparing equipment to a high standard.

As a Workshop Forklift Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and preparing forklift trucks for rental and used equipment sales. You will ensure all work is completed to the highest engineering standards while maintaining accurate documentation in line with company health & safety and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Workshop Forklift Engineer, your duties will include:

• Workshop Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on forklift trucks and material handling equipment within the workshop.
• FLT Preparation: Prepare forklift trucks to the required standards for STR rental fleet and used equipment sales.
• Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Identify and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently.
• Parts Management: Order required spare parts and liaise with management for authorisation when required.
• Documentation & Systems: Accurately complete service reports and maintain records using internal systems such as K1SS.
• Engineering Standards: Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company engineering standards and safe working practices.
• Stock & Equipment Control: Maintain accurate stock movement records and ensure company tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.
• Team Collaboration: Liaise with workshop management and colleagues to ensure work schedules are completed on time and to the required standards.
• Workshop Support: Assist with any additional duties required to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the workshop.

• Follow all company Health & Safety, Environmental, and site policies at all times
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment
• Take responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and visitors on site
• Ensure all work is completed using approved safe working practices

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this Workshop Forklift Engineer position, candidates should have:

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical, electrical, or engineering discipline
• Experience working as a Forklift Engineer, Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter, Vehicle Technician, or Mechanical Engineer
• Strong mechanical knowledge including hydraulics, electrics, and fault finding
• Experience servicing or repairing forklift trucks or similar material handling equipment
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills when working with colleagues and internal departments
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and repairs
• A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality work
