Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on technically challenging projects within a high-performance, defence-related engineering environment. This role offers the opportunity to develop robust mechanical solutions for demanding applications, contributing across the full product lifecycle—from initial concept through to design, manufacture, and integration.
Key Responsibilities
* Mechanical design and development of components and assemblies using CAD tools
* Design for manufacture, including machining, welding, and fabrication considerations
* Support thermal simulation and thermal modelling activities
* Manage design data and documentation using PDM systems
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electronics and manufacturing engineers
* Support prototype build, testing, and iterative design improvements
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proficiency with a CAD package (SolidWorks preferred; CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD also considered)
* Strong background in mechanical design, manufacturing, and design for manufacture (DFM)
* Experience designing for welding and fabrication processes
* Exposure to thermal simulation or thermal modelling
* Basic understanding or experience with PDM (Product Data Management) systems
* Experience designing for integration with electronics and PCBs
* Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes
