Construction Manager – Substation Infrastructure | Andover
Are you looking for a Construction Manager role where you will lead the delivery of nationally critical infrastructure projects? This Construction Manager opportunity offers the chance to take full ownership of substation refurbishment works within a highly regulated and safety‑critical environment.
Responsibilities
* Leading construction delivery for a main intake substation refurbishment
* Supporting the Project Manager with programme planning and contract delivery
* Managing early warnings, risks and compensation events
* Providing construction input into programme sequencing, access and commissioning
Additional Responsibilities
* Planning, managing and monitoring construction activities in line with CDM regulations
* Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring safe systems of work
* Implementing Construction Phase Plans, RAMS and temporary works
* Leading works across HV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear and protection systems
* Managing civil works including foundations, ducts and containment
* Coordinating outages, isolations and phased project handovers
* Ensuring quality compliance, managing NCRs and maintaining accurate records
* Managing programme, resources and productivity on site
* Acting as the primary interface with clients, designers and stakeholders
Must Have Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Site Manager for a Principal Contractor
* Strong background in HV electrical infrastructure and substation projects
* Experience working in regulated or safety‑critical environments
* Solid understanding of CDM 2015 regulations
* Strong leadership and coordination skills
* Commercial and contractual awareness
Qualifications
* SMSTS certification
* Relevant qualification in Construction, Civil or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Temporary Works Coordinator certification (beneficial)
