Role Introduction
This is an opportunity to join a growing, ambitious Trust and play a key role in shaping the quality of education across our schools. The Educational Psychologist will provide expert guidance, challenge and support to schools, both within the Trust and those considering joining, while leading on the development and quality assurance of Trust-wide strategies for inclusive education.
This role is integral to shaping the Trust’s inclusive education strategy, ensuring that all pupils receive the psychological support necessary to thrive academically and emotionally.
This role will be part of the Executive Team, working closely with the Director of Education and leaders from within the Trust. You will work closely with school leaders to develop their capacity in supporting pupils with complex needs, fostering a whole-school approach to inclusion and wellbeing.
The Educational Psychologist will report directly to the Director of Education.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide high-quality, evidence-based educational psychology services across a multi-academy Trust of 10 schools, supporting pupils' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. The role includes delivering tailored interventions, supporting staff training, enhancing staff wellbeing, and working strategically with schools.
The Educational Psychologist will be required to create and develop professional partnerships with Headteachers and to quality assure that the provision for children in all our schools is as strong as it can be.
You must hold a psychology degree or a conversion course accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), followed by a three-year BPS-accredited Doctorate in Educational Psychology and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Principle Responsibilities
1. Strategic development
2. Pupil Support & Intervention (direct pupil work)
3. Conduct psychological assessments and provide tailored recommendations for pupils identified as needing additional support.
4. Work collaboratively with SENCOs, school staff, parents, and external agencies to support pupils' learning, behaviour, and mental health needs.
5. Deliver or support staff to enable them to deliver interventions with pupils, such as therapeutic programmes or group work.
6. School & Staff Support (training, consultations, strategic school-level input)
7. Support schools in identifying and addressing specific educational or psychological needs.
8. Provide consultation services to help staff develop inclusive strategies for pupils with additional needs.
9. Contribute to statutory assessments and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) as required.
10. Trust-Wide Leadership & Policy Development (strategic initiatives, QA, research)
11. Deliver staff training on relevant topics, such as trauma-informed practices, inclusive classroom strategies, or mental health first aid.
12. Support staff wellbeing initiatives through workshops or one-on-one consultation.
13. Provide expert leadership in shaping and refining Trust-wide policies and practices related to SEN, inclusion, and mental health, ensuring they reflect best practice and national guidance.
14. Ensure that Trust-wide policies and practices related to SEN, inclusion, and mental health are evidence-based, consistently implemented, and regularly reviewed, to drive continuous improvement across all schools.
15. Stay informed on emerging research and ensure that Trust-wide practices remain evidence-based and impactful.
16. Liase with other colleagues from other Trusts to share best practice.

18. Provide flexible support beyond SLA agreements for specific needs, such as bespoke assessments, targeted interventions, or emergency responses.
19. Lead Trust-wide capacity-building activities, such as developing wellbeing initiatives or creating resources for staff and students.
20. Professional Oversight & Impact Reporting (accountability, compliance, CPD)
21. Maintain up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and recommendations in line with professional standards and GDPR regulations.
22. Provide regular feedback and impact reports to the central Trust leadership team.
23. Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain expertise in the field of educational psychology.
