Accounts Assistant
Location: Northampton Job Type: Permanent
We are looking for a proactive Accounts Assistant with strong Xero experience to support a growing organisation during an exciting period of expansion. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, thrives in a small business environment, and is comfortable working across both financial and operational functions.
You will help maintain the financial health of the business while supporting a wide range of operational activities. Working closely with company leadership, you will contribute to building a smooth, inclusive, and well-structured working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations
* Collect and coordinate financial data from across the business
* Reconcile transactions and maintain accurate bookkeeping in Xero
* Manage company expenses and allocate them appropriately to projects/clients
* Prepare and submit VAT returns
* Raise, issue, and follow up on invoices
* Maintain P&L, cashflow, and sales pipeline data
* Manage financial forecasting and pipeline reporting
* Ensure accurate timecard submissions across the team
* Support additional finance and operations tasks as required in a growing business
Compliance & Certification
* Support the management and maintenance of ISO certification processes
* Assist with documentation, audits, and compliance activities
* Ensure internal processes align with required standards
Business Operations
* Arrange travel and accommodation for staff and directors
* Assist with marketing coordination, campaigns, events, and promotional materials
* Provide project support across ongoing company initiatives
* Support bid development and submission work
* Offer general administrative and operational support to company directors
What We're Looking For
* Experience in accounts, bookkeeping, or finance administration
* Proficiency with Xero and Excel
* Understanding of company finance processes (VAT, payroll, HMRC compliance)
* Experience with ISO certification or quality systems (beneficial)
* Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
* Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to prioritise, multitask, and work independently
